Protein Expression Core
There is no “one size fits all” solution for expression and purification of proteins. Every protein has different optimal conditions – The NBC Protein Expression Core is available to help solve your expression problems and to work with you to generate your protein of interest.
Services
Our mandate is to provide high quality purified recombinant proteins to NBC investigators to support research relating to Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases.
Specialized services are provided at 2 facilities:
Wadsworth Center- Expression in E.coli
- Construction of expression clones
- Screening for soluble protein production
- Expression of recombinant proteins in E.coli
- Purification of proteins (soluble and insoluble)
- Production of soluble B. anthracis PA, LF and EF proteins
- Small scale monoclonal and polyclonal antibody purification
- Endotoxin reduction of purified proteins
Albert Einstein College of Medicine – Expression in eukaryotes
- Stable Drosophila S2 transfections
- Insect cell expression mediated by baculovirus
- Stable mammalian transfectants
- Autonomously replicating mammalian episomal expression
Each facility has preferred expression systems and plasmids to produce optimum results. Therefore, we strongly recommend contacting the relevant facility director before making expression clones.
Charges
Fee schedules are dependent on the type of service required. Please contact the relevant facility director for a cost estimate for your specific needs. Core staff may conduct pilot experiments to estimate the cost of production in some cases.
